In The Netherlands the BioGov.net project zooms in on the provinces of North Brabant and Zeeland. A first stakeholder meeting was organized at AVANS University of Applied Sciences on 25 May 2023.  In an open debate meeting, participants from various parts of society first shared their personal experiences with, and vision on, the needs and regional priorities with regard to vocational training and lifelong learning in the bioeconomy sector.

Next, the groups split into two break-out sessions. Key takeaways from the break-out session on Ownership and governance: “We need to come to a common vision for the long term so that training is not only interesting for the short term” and “Bio-based is part of the wider concept of circularity and energy & material transition. We have to widen our scope to increase the success rates for the training sessions”.  Main takeaways from the break-out session on Target group-oriented learning paths: “In education, it will be necessary to look at the current needs of the business community on the one hand, and at the needs of the ‘organization of the future’ on the other” and “The education programme should be made more flexible to endorse life-long learning”.
